PRESS RELEASE
DECEMBER 2015
BOS PICKS A WINNER FOR THEIR DESIGN A CAN CAMPAIGN 2015
BOS loves to develop platforms for creative expression. Following on from last year’s Design A Can success and BOS’s growing European presence, BOS launched the campaign onto the international stage this year!
The 2015 competition proved to be another success, with over 1000 entries submitted from Europe and Africa. The caliber of these entries raised the bar of the competition, making for a tough job for the international judging panel.
BOS is excited to announce that Kayleigh Garrett will see her design on 200 000 BOS limited edition cans this year, along with receiving a R10 000 cash prize.
Kayleigh, a graphic design student at Red and Yellow School based in Cape Town, says it’s amazing to win this year’s competition. “Being given the opportunity to see your design go from conceptualization to production is a process that every designer dreams of. The fact that it’s with such a current, cool brand makes it so much better.”
According to Kayleigh her design aesthetic has always been quite sleek when it comes to color and style. “I love minimal color palettes, usually black, white and a spot colour, which is the approach I took with the BOS Design a Can Competition.”
Talking about the inspiration and motivation behind her entry Kayleigh says, “The pattern I designed, was influenced by the natural pattern of the veins on banana leaves, inspired by the initiative that BOS has to plant a tree for every 2000 cans sold. It also speaks to the healthy side of the BOS lifestyle and their natural flavor and ingredients.“
Design A Can 2015 attracted big names in the design and creative world to its international judging panel, and BOS would like to thank all of them for being part of the journey.
They are:
Robert Thiemann: Editor in Chief and Co-Founder of Frame Magazine (Netherlands)
Bert de Geyter: Founder of TUMULTINGENT (Belgium)
Trevor Stuurman, South African fashion and photography icon. (South Africa)
Cathy O’Clery, 100% Design curator and former ELLE Décor magazine editor. (South Africa)
Grant Rushmere, BOS Founder and Chief Brand Officer. (South Africa)
Ofentse Letebele, Design A Can 2014 winner. (South Africa)
Due to the rising popularity of the Yuzu flavour, which was used for the 2014 Limited Edition “mystery flavour”, BOS has decided to continue to use this flavour again for the new design.
Look out for the new cans due to hit shelves in early 2016.
BOS will be hosting exhibitions in March 2016 in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where they’ll invite BOS fans and creatives to catch a glimpse of the winning design and also display the top finalists’ entries.
